I Am Not Easily Labeled by Jenny Cajas

I am not easily labeled
I wonder why things are the way they are
I hear people mocking me
I see those who said they cared turn away
I want to be a better version of me

I am not easily labeled
I pretend to be full of smiles, but I am not full of life
I see the weight ready to be lifted off my shoulders
I touch my uneven skin
I worry about not connecting with others
I cry at inappropriate times

I am not easily labeled
I understand most people’s ideas and opinions
I say “labels are for cans”
I dream of a better tomorrow

I try to be considerate
I hope no one person is an exact definition
I am not easily labeled
